1966: The Year Rock and Roll Changed Forever

MCC Counselor and Instructor, Tore Skogseth, will take you back to 1966, a year that transformed rock and roll!

This was the moment when the Beatles and the Beach Boys pushed the boundaries of music and forever changed the sound of the genre. The Beatles’ Revolver and the Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds marked a shift from pop hits to experimental, genre-defining albums.

In this presentation, we will not only explore how these two iconic bands shattered expectations, experimented with new sounds, and took rock music to places no one could have imagined, we will also explore rock and roll music before and after 1966. This isn’t just a history lesson — it’s a front-row seat to the moment when rock and roll grew up, broke the rules, and became the cultural force we know today!

This presentation is on Friday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in room G129 in the Ash TLC Building on MCC's Greenville campus. The cost is $5 and may be paid in cash at the door.

Pre-registration is preferred online at montcalm.edu/LLL. You may also email LLL@montcalm.edu or call 989-328-1243 for more information or to register.
